1965–2025
Some months ago, we lost him – an artist, a friend, and a unique human being. We deeply miss Wadi — his voice, his warmth, and his anarchic mind. He accompanied our first SEE DJERBA editions with enthusiasm, trust, and dedication in a remarkable way.
Wadi was an artist, known for working across photography, ceramics, video, installation, performance, scenography, textiles, and fashion. His work explored body, and identity, collective life, and memory, and the relationship between people and their environment. Some of his projects use craft materials and symbolic forms to connect contemporary ideas with Tunisian traditions.
Wadi moved through the world with curiosity, courage, and care for things that matter. Whether through his work, his ideas, or simply the way he spoke, he left a mark on our mind maps and in our hearts. What stays with us most is not only what he created, but who he was: alive, intelligent, affectionate, unruly in the best sense, and deeply human.
He had that rare gift of making people feel seen. He could be playful and profound, radical and kind, all at once. That mixture made him unforgettable. Wadi’s absence reminds us of how much life he brought into the spaces he entered, and how much we still carry from him. We remember him with gratitude, love, and sorrow — and with the certainty that his spirit is very much alive among us.
