Rawema prject is a live set by Pan-J (Jihed Khmiri), built around a contemporary reinterpretation of Tunisian malouf. The set is punctuated by interventions from Vipa, whose appearances open narrative spaces within the performance. Through sampling, electronic composition, and sound transformation, Pan-J explores the modes and structures of malouf, recontextualizing them within a contemporary, primarily instrumental language. First presented at La Rachidia during Mahfel Room, Rawema continues to evolve as an adaptable form, positioned between musical memory and electronic creation.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Pan-J
Jihed Khmiri is a Tunisian musician, composer, and producer born in 1988 in Tunis. A multi-instrumentalist, he began his musical practice as a self-taught artist before joining the Higher Institute of Music of Tunis. His work spans musical projects, film scores, performances, and stage productions. He collaborates with artists and cultural institutions in diverse contexts, across music, live performance, and audiovisual creation. In 2019, Jihed Khmiri launched Pan-J, his project dedicated to electronic music.
Pan-J is a composition and production project focused on electronic music, incorporating trip-hop and ambient influences as well as elements drawn from Arabic musical repertoires. The project develops through musical releases, live performances, and artistic collaborations.
Vipa
Kais “Vipa” Kekli, born in 1990, is one of the leading figures of Tunisian hip-hop. Co-founder of the groups El Banda and Erkez HipHop, as well as the collective DEBO, he quickly established himself as an engaged voice of Tunisian youth. Revealed in 2012 with Egleb Mandhrek, which became an anthem of the Tunisian revolution, Vipa develops music deeply rooted in the country’s social and political realities. His solo album Adheka Eli Bik (2017), along with projects blending rap, popular Tunisian music, and contemporary sounds, reflects his ability to renew and reshape the local hip-hop scene. Active on both Tunisian and international stages, Vipa continues a career marked by commitment.
