The SEE DJERBA curatorial training program is a practice-based learning platform for emerging curators and cultural practitioners that connects curatorial thinking to media art, public space, and community-oriented work in Djerba. It is designed to combine theory, mentoring, and hands-on production, enabling participants to develop curatorial skills while contributing to an actual project.
The program emphasizes art-in-context, encouraging participants to work beyond institutional settings and to create public outcomes that reflect research, exchange, and community engagement. Through workshops, plenums, mentorship, and collective practice, the program supports emerging curators in developing both conceptual frameworks and practical skills, including project planning, mediation, documentation, communication, and production.
Moving from encounter to entanglement frames this edition of SEE DJERBA. It references a process in which artistic, curatorial, and social relations intertwine, generating new forms of collaboration, responsibility, and shared knowledge.
The project connects local practices and communities in Djerba with regional, national, and international partners, creating a network of cooperation that is rooted in place while remaining open to broader artistic and cultural dialogues. Rather than treating these levels as separate, the project understands them as mutually shaping one another, where each encounter can develop into lasting entanglement through ongoing exchange, joint production, and collective learning.
